Darren Lee discusses why document retention policies are failing at the desktop. 60% of enterprises have a written document retention policy but less than 33% of them actively enforce it (CIO Mag Study). Most of the risk for enterprisese sits on the unmanaged, wild west, desktop of end users. And until now there hasn’t been a good way for enterprises to address the risk of the desktop - all previous solutions required massive user change or a draconian approach.

Tom talks about the risk of documents that are stored on end users machines creating compliance, reputation and e-discovery risk.

All electronic files are subject to review not just the official records (central archives) but rather drafts and road copies. What we are trying to do is create a compliance monitoring platform of documents on end-user machines---creating visibility that companies have never had before.
